Who Will Be the Sexiest Man Alive for 2007? by Diana Holquist

Ah, fall. Time to turn our thoughts to school lunches. Radiant foliage. And, most importantly, People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2007.

Yes, the issue comes out November 19th and since I've given a bit of thought to what makes a man sexy (yeah, I wrote a whole book about it), I thought I'd put in my early prediction.

Remember, you heard it here first:

My husband.

(Hi honey!)

My second choice?

David Beckham.

There really isn't much more to say, is there?

I know, I know, "bench it like Beckham" and "worst team in the league" and all that.

But this isn't really about soccer, now is it?

What do you think? Who should be the sexiest man alive for 2007?

check out my website for excerpts, reviews and more!
And if you're thinking about picking up a copy of Sexiest Man Alive (in stores THIS WEEK!), please be careful. We've been hearing all sorts of reports of disturbances. One store caught this unfortunate scene on videotape:

Way cool, Diana!

I love that trailer! Absolutely wonderful!

Funny trailer. And that took place at MY Borders. :)

Diana Holquist said...

Jenifer--no way! That's too funny. I hope it wasn't your grandmother who got flashed.

Hey, everyone, what about the sexiest man alive 2007? Or don't sexy men interest you guys..?

Sexiest man alive - Clive Owen. I'm counting down the days to Elizabeth the Golden Age.

LOL Great trailer.

I suspect the sexiest man alive is someone the People has never seen. What's that saying... "sexy is in the brain of the beholder"?

Diana Holquist said...

Yeah, you know, I've been asking this question around the blogasphere for a few days now, and almost no one agrees.

How do those guys get picked for People, anyway? Is it all an advertising decision: who will sell the most issues? Or is that way too cynical?

And thanks for all the kudos on the video, everyone. I'm trying to not make any more but they're so fun...

Hi Diana!

Does the Sexiest Man Alive have to be real or can he be fictional? 'Cause I think Dean Winchester from Supernatural is just about the sexiest thing ever. I can't nominate the actor who plays him because for me, the sexy has to be part personality and I haven't met the actor.

The fictional character, though? Yum.

If Dean doesn't win I'm going with Colin Bridgerton (also fictional).

I do love my fictional men.

Of course, your first choice has a definite shot.

Diana Holquist said...

Ah...fictional men. They are so much more satisfying, aren't they? When people call romance novels "porn" because of the sex scenes, I always think, nah...the "porn" is in the tough, sensitive, gorgeous, heroic men. That's the turn-on, right? It's like those high-end home magazines. You know it's not real, you know it's a photo shoot, and yet...

Yum. Clive Owen.

I'm a Buffy fan from way back, so whenever I ponder The Sexy Man Question, I remember Spike saying, "She needs a little monster in her man."

Well, for me it's more like, "She needs a little brain with her beefcake."

And this is why I love Jon Stewart.

Diana Holquist said...

Jon Stewart! Kate, I think that's brilliant. Do you think it could happen?

I've got to look this Clive Owen dude up. I have not a clue who he is.

Oops, that's not the sort of thing I'm supposed to mention in public...

Ellen, I am with you - Dean Winchester - SIGH!!!

Maybe Gerard Butler will win?? 300, ya know?

Diana Holquist said...

Hi Mary.

Y'know, I actually went to see "300"--and if you know anything about me, you know I NEVER get out to see newfangled things like movies.

But everyone was raving, and I went.

I still can't sleep at night.

This is why I write funny, lighthearted contemporaries. No heads cut off in slo-mo for me.

I'll have to go back to watch Gerard Butler in something else to get those images out of my mind, once I'm done watching those youtube clips of my man David B. of course...

Susan Crandall said...

Oh my gosh, Diana. I loved your trailer! Well done!

And I agree on David Beckham, he's in my current top five.

Diana Holquist said...

Thanks, Susan.

I knew great minds thought alike.

MaryF said...

Diana, then you should see Gerard in DEAR FRANKIE. Very sweet movie. I promise ;)

Hi Mary.

Okay. I'm gonna rent it. But if there's any gushing blood out of severed limbs...
