As Long As We're Voting. . .

Got no beef with all the beefcake posted here, but in an effort to continue this educational drift, (and to avoid doing what I should be doing, namely working on my next oeuvre) and to make sure my fave gets mentioned, here's a shout out to the underknown Ben Browder of sadly cancelled Farscape.

As you can see, he also looks good fully clothed.

Not to mention in full John Crichton regalia with Claudia Brown as his love and soul-mate Aeryn Sun.

Sigh. Nothing like leather...

I know most of you probably never heard of them, but these are two of the most romantic characters ever created. Every romance reader should check them out on DVD.

I've seen a few eps of this show and agree that Ben is deelish. The DVDs are way too expensive to buy and the show can't really be watched out of sequence. One day I'll catch up with it, though.

You should try the library, Michelle. See if they have any of the DVDs. It's worth a hunt, even if this fan girl does say so herself.

What do you mean even if we haven't heard of them?

Okay, so yeah. I haven't heard of them either. Or the show.

Think I can get a VHS tape of it? An eight-track?

(who is going to fail this sad attempt at education...there's not going to be a test, is there?)

Holy cats! I just checked and they have it at the library! Who knew? I'll have to order the first season when I'm finished with my most recent deadline.

And Diana, I have no idea if you're kidding anymore. But I do believe your education must continue. There will be a test at the Warner dinner in Washington DC in July. Start studying!

Diana Holquist said...

Nope. Not kidding. Not a clue!

Guess I better start studying...

Test!

Netflix is my friend, Michelle, and it can be your friend, too!

Annie Solomon said...

Oh, yeah, good idea, Elizabeth. I forgot about Netflix. They have everything--all 88 episodes and the final 4-hour mini-series.

Annie Solomon said...

Michelle--hope you get 'scaped, but do keep in mind that the first season is the weakest until the last few episodes. So if you don't like it at first, keep going (you know, that's what Beth de Guzman's assistent told Beth about my first book, and look what happened there...)

Not sure if you're kidding, either, Diana, but believe it or not, you CAN get Farscape on VHS...somewhere. In fact, I have it on tape AND disc (sheesh, it's so embarassing being a fan...)

Three years ago, I broke down and allowed my family to get a television--a decision I'm still regretting--on the grounds that they were becoming social outcasts.

Ha! As if that would ever bother me (obviously). But the children (and husband) seem more fragile.

We do own a broken DVD/VHS player. Such a shame it doesn't work...guess I better get it fixed before the test...I just won't tell the family.

My sister-in-law had the no TV rule... Until the kids got to jr. high and stopped being home schooled. How old are yours? What do they enjoy doing?

I definitely understand because my brain is completely rotted away by TV. But if you were trapped by Nazis and forced to watch something dark, goofy, fun, and romantic, can't go wrong with Farscape.

We don't have Netflix in Canada. We get VHS via polar bear delivery.

Annie Solomon said...

No Netflix? How sad for you... On the other hand, nothing beats a good polar bear.

Farscape is the best TV EVER!!!! I agree that Crichton and Aeryn are so achingly romantic--it will take your breath away.

I'm having a grand old time reading your blog when suddenly I come upon your Farscape/Ben post and can't help but blurt out "Scaper!" as I point like a madwoman at the monitor. :)

The John/Aeryn romance is exquisite. And painful. But deliciously so.

You've made my day so far!

It's been months since I posted this, Danielle, but you've made my day, too!!! I am an obsessed 'scaper and would love to have another 'scaper to obsess with!

First, drool over Ben Browder, and Claudia Black is a genius. Also, Stargate SG-1, which they also had roles in, is great to see them again. Also, Michael Shanks is beautiful.
Elizabeth Weir - John Sheppard - Teyla Emmagan and Ronon Dex for a complicated and never really resolved potential romantic relationship situation on the SG-1 spinoff Stargate Atlantis.
Firefly and Serenity (TV show and movie): Zoe and Wash (Gina Torres and Alan Tudyk), Malcolm Reynolds and Inara Serra (Nathon Fillian and Morena Baccarin), Kaylee Frye and Simon Tam (Jewel Staite and Sean Maher), so romantic!
Dollhouse - I'm rooting for Echo/Caroline and Paul Ballard. (Eliza Dushku and Tahmoh Penikett).

Yup, anonymous--all your additions are noteworthy. I loved Firefly and the movie, Serenity. I enjoyed the Stargate franchise, but not as much as Farscape. But it was great seeing Ben and Claudia again. Have not taken to Dollhouse, but one day will watch; I've got all the eps on DVR...
